The Beginning Stages of Lamprey Watch

In 2014 a feasibility study into sampling migratory river or sea lampreys was undertaken. We were interested in these particular species as they are important indicator species for the Water Framework Directive (WFD). Another aim was to raise public awareness about lampreys and given that the adults can be quite easy to spot from the river bank during spawning season, we decided to try a Citizen Science campaign alongside our study.
